What I was not prepared for, was the ultimate beauty and taste that the Mohawk Valley Trading Company’s Raw Honey would give. I was in awe of nature’s Raw wonder- pure, unpasteurized Honey. When I first tasted the Wildflower Honey, I had to stop and truly appreciate the incredible taste. It was as if I was eating a bouquet of Earth’s most beautiful flowers. Sweet, Floral and completely intoxicating- I have never tasted something quite like it, and I am not exaggerating in the slightest. Wildflower Honey is also known as Polyfloral honey as it is collected from the nectar of various flowers. I absolutely loved the taste of the Wildflower Honey- and so did my family! I had to hide it away so I could test it on my face!
I was sent several products from Mohawk Valley Trading Company and was I blown away by the quality of their products. I have never tasted honey or maple syrup with such a rich, deep flavor. Their raw autumn wildflower honey is perfect for everything from baking, to coffee, to eating right off the spoon. The flavor is like none I have ever tasted before. It’s hard to even describe. Like an ultra-concentrated honey flavor.
What I wasn’t expecting was that their maple syrup tastes so much better than anything I’ve tasted before. I’ve participated in Sugar House tours and we go to our Maine Maple Syrup Sunday events here, but this maple syrup was different. It was sweet and robust and I found myself sticking my finger in the measuring cup to get those last few drips that didn’t make it into the mixing bowl. I think we’ll be making extra pancakes the next few weeks just so we can eat more maple syrup!
Jonathan and I have purchased raw honey before, so I thought I knew what we’d be getting. But when we sampled the varieties sent to us I was shocked. I mean, shocked. Jonathan and I both said “wow” about a dozen times each.
First, I’d never sampled different varieties of honey before. I was shocked to find that the flavors vary drastically between the different types. Not just an, “Oh yes, this is a tweak on the same old thing.” But a night and day difference between each jar. The wildflower honey tasted like sugary sunshine and summertime. The tulip poplar honey tasted sweet and rich with hints of deep flavor, like honey and brown sugar made a honey love child. And the buckwheat honey was the deepest, earthiest sweet substance I’ve ever tasted, with a rich, deep, pleasantly intense woodsy flavor.
I recently had the opportunity to get my hot little hands on a bottle of Mohawk Valley Trading Co’s Pure Maple Syrup. Fan-freakin-tastic! Seriously! The sweet, yet complex flavor of the syrup was unlike syrup I had had before. Completely hooked. And I may or may not have hidden the bottle from the rest of the family. Between you and I. Looking for some new recipes to use while you give pure maple syrup a try?
Their maple syrup is out of this world yummy! It was pure maple syrup, with just the right flavor that we like. It poured easily onto pancakes, oatmeal and ice cream. We also used it in making bread and cookies, and the flavor really shined through.
Not a week later, I got a box with four different jars of the most beautiful tawny-colored honey. Not only is it beautiful, the flavor is so different than any honey I have tasted. It is thicker, richer and more floral than anything I have ever used.
Finally, there is the Dark, Robust Maple Syrup. We did a private taste test at home of the Mohawk Valley Trading Co.’s maple syrup, versus a popular organic supermarket brand. There truly is no comparison. This syrup is rich, intensely sweet, and full of flavor. We use it in yogurt, on sourdough pancakes, and in smoothies.
Both honeys definitely are sweeter and fresher than anything you can find at the supermarket. The buckwheat honey is dark and rich, and almost has a molasses-like quality. The orange blossom honey is golden and super sweet.
Is gorgeous a word that can be used to describe food? These flavors are simply gorgeous...
Our second-place winner is from Mohawk Valley Trading, Co. “Apple cider!” “Brown sugar!” “Oh-my-lanta!” We all giggled at the last exclamation of delight as Angie nearly melted like warm caramel taking scoops of the amber honey. Her smile turning with such satisfaction we all retreated back to sample that honey again and again. It was now he one to beat.
Our first-place winner is also from Mohawk Valley Trading, Co. A floral honey that we couldn’t verbally describe because our mouths were shut “Mmmm-ing!” and “Yummm-ing!” its deep flavors. “I love it! The best!” they exclaimed. Rich with complex notes of floral meets warm raisin-butterscotch. Its white color is deceiving, like warm summer raindrops that soon show the complexity of a rainbow through their delicate orbs, the wild cherry honey continues to reveal layers of flavor as it moves across the tongue. Lemon and holiday spices come to mind as the hints of brown sugar mix between.
I promise, the Maple Syrup and Raw Honey is TO DIE FOR!! I cannot wait for you to try it out! Let me know what you think once you try it!!
We tried this syrup and my husband and I immediately agreed it had to be the best maple syrup we had ever tasted. We look forward to weekend breakfasts even more since we have this syrup to complement our waffles, pancakes or French toast.
Overall, I absolutely love the Pure Maple Syrup from Mohawk Valley Trading Co. It is so unbelievably flavorful, and really creates a flavor explosion in your mouth. Add to that the fact that there are no additives used, and you've got the perfect breakfast companion, without the guilt! If you're like me and love natural and organic foods, definitely check this company out! You won't be disappointed!
This was beyond good! Ryder is a no-syrup pancake kid and yet I couldn’t get him to stop licking the table where it was dripping from the bottle. Since his introduction to this rich, nutty and perfectly sweet syrup, Ryder has since converted to syrup on his pancakes – well, only if it is Mohawk Valley’s Maple Syrup.
I served it to a few of my crepe loving book club friends, both of which are syrup connoisseurs, and they thought it was the best they’d had, “Better than fresh syrup from Michigan or Vermont. Thick, dark and rich without being too heavy with a smooth finish. Perfect for crepes!
Surely after the smooth and best smelling soap or the tastiest syrup a cute little red head could have ever have, Mohawk couldn’t do much better. I was wrong. Their beautiful 100% pure beeswax candles: taper, votive, and birthday candles are beautiful, burn bright and even, and have the slightest hint of honey scent! Need I say more?
Using honey as part of the peach simple syrup I made was inspired by the fact that I had some amazing product from the Mohawk Valley Trading Co. sitting on my counter; that made this an easy choice.
This company is a fantastic find with beautiful honey, beeswax candles and absolutely delicious Maple Syrup. I knew as soon as I saw the packaging that I was in for something special. I’ve got some Maple Cookies I hope to make soon using their Maple Syrup; it is truly divine too. I felt blessed to be able to combine Maker’s Mark bourbon with Mohawk Trading Company’s honey in this Honey Peach Mint Julep creation. I just cannot tell you how fantastic it is!
Jen tried the Grade A Robust Dark Maple Syrup and was immediately hooked. Not only is this amazing syrup primarily made from sugar maple sap, it has no additives - giving you a very pure and distinctive maple syrup taste. Once you open the bottle, you'll smell a warm brown sugary aroma. It's intensely smooth and has a really silky texture to it, but the best part is the taste. Wow. So long, Aunt Jemima! It's over, Mrs. Butterworth's! We have a new favorite syrup! That brown sugar fragrance now becomes a deep, rich and sweet taste. This is a maple syrup you won't forget, once you try it.
The simplistic goodness of the downhome, handmade beeswax candles from Mohawk Valley cannot be denied. Some of the decorative candles are so detailed, it’s amazing! We love the high quality of the beeswax and the beautiful, bright burns.
So, what was the winning beer and snack pairing? The snack was a slow cooked, dry-rubbed pulled pork with a persimmon, apple and red cabbage slaw all piled up on a roasted potato chip. Our beer, Spring Tides, was a steam finished off with Adirondack Wildflower Summer Honey from Mohawk Valley Trading Company.
Like most people, I've bought maple flavoured syrup. Trust me; the imitation does NOT do the real thing justice at all. Mike (Review Daddy) and I will never buy imitation again. Last night, we had home-made French toast, bacon, and Mohawk Valley Trading Company's REAL Maple Syrup.
Seriously, how does one describe perfection? Slightly thick, fragrant, sweet... those are just a few inadequate words. It truly enhances the food that you're eating -- it doesn't overpower it. It's versatile as well. It's NOT just for pancakes, French toast, or waffles.
We eat a lot of pancakes and French toast, etc. in this house. One of our favorites,” says Hayley. “And I have to tell that this is the best maple syrup we have ever had! Yum!
We tried out the Pure Maple Syrup first on one of my husband’s newest gluten-free pancake creations. I asked my kids what they thought of it verse the 100% maple syrup we purchase at our grocer. My son said, “This is soooo much better. It’s the best I’ve ever had!” and proceeded to lick his plate clean.
I must share a truth with you. I have never been a fan of maple syrup…until now. Mohawk Valley’s Pure Maple Syrup is sublime in flavor and is quite perfect on homemade pancakes. It is also a lovely dip for pancakes, which is a great choice for those who like to conserve their maple syrup. My new favorite breakfast is smoked sausage wrapped in a pancake and dipped in this fabulously fresh and nutritious syrup.
In the USA, one example of the closest organic honey one can get is Raw Adirondack Wildflower Honey from the Mohawk Valley Trading Company. They place the bee hives in areas “deep in the Adirondacks” of New York State where there is an abundance of wildflowers
These honeys are very delicately flavored and are really great used full strength to accent the foods you eat. We highly recommend the Mohawk Valley Trading Co. honey products as they are very high quality and are of course, made in the USA!!
