Lip Balm, Beeswax Lip Balm, Natural Lip Balm, Organic Lip Balm

Although we make and sell our own natural and beeswax lip balm, we encourage you to experiment and develop your own recipes because there is no “one size fits all” when you take into consideration all of the factors involved when it comes to skin care: heredity, skin type, diet, environment, age, allergies, lifestyle etc.

Many natural or beeswax lip balms can be made with ingredients that might already be in your kitchen or medicine cabinet and here is a basic formula to get you started:

2 T olive oil
1/2 tsp beeswax
1/2 tsp Shea Butter or Cocoa Butter
1/2 tsp raw honey

Optional: 2-3 drops Vitamin E oil
Optional: Essential oils or natural extracts

  1. Combine all ingredients except the raw honey, optional natural extract, Vitamin E or essential oil in a suitable glass jar or Pyrex measuring cup and place in a pot of simmering water.

  2. When everything is melted, remove from heat and let cool for 5 -10 minutes then stir in the raw honey, optional natural extract, Vitamin E or essential oil.

  3. Stir occasionally until mixture starts to solidify then pour into small containers or allow it to solidify in glass jar.

This is a basic beeswax lip balm recipe: feel free to edit and adjust to preferences.

About Beeswax Lip Balm, Natural Lip Balm

Beeswax is used in lip balm to moisturize, protect lips from the sun, prevent infections and cold sores, and for it’s naturally pleasant smell. Beeswax lip balm is especially appealing to consumers because it’s natural (many commercial lip balms contain un-natural, chemically formulated ingredients). Some consumers find beeswax lip balms to be less irritating, while others have problems with it due to bee allergies.

Beeswax has been shown to contain small quantities of antibacterial agents. For people who often have cracked lips, not only are there moisturizing benefits of using beeswax lip balm, but the antibacterial properties of the beeswax help prevent painful inflammation.

We are in the process of redesigning the packaging for our handmade, natural beeswax lip balm and will update this page when we re-launch.
